About Me

My photo
I've been happily married to Jim for 44 years (but I don't know how that could be since I really don't feel that old), have 2 married children, and 5 precious grandchildren (seen above).

The Truth About Meanness

Ok, it's after midnight and I couldn't sleep, so I decided to finish a couple of blog drafts and write this one.

It is so distressing when a loved one is hurt.  It takes a lot to bother me about me, but not when it's my loved one.  My natural instinct is to lash out.  Sometimes I do that and I'm always sorry for not having taken the high road - I'll rephrase that - for not having done it the Lord's way.  I'm a strong protector because of my dysfunctional background, so it has taken a long time to curb that natural instinct.  Don't get me wrong.  I still protect.  But God has shown me that He is a better Protector.  I'm so grateful for that.

A verse that has helped me this time is Romans 12:21:  "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."  So I trust the Lord to protect my loved one and make things right.  Way to go, God!

The Truth About Focus

Have you ever noticed that WHAT we focus on determines HOW we think?  In other words, our thoughts usually determine our attitudes.

For instance, if we think about not liking certain weather, we will probably be in a lousy mood when it occurs. I've met so many people who say they just HATE rainy days or snow or cold weather or hot weather.  I wonder what would happen if we were just thankful for the variety of weather God has given us.  We would probably go nuts if every day was sunny or cloudy or cold or hot.  (Probably why not many people choose to live in the Artic or Anartica).

If we think something doesn't interest us, we will feel bored when that occurs.  Children often say they are bored.  But when any person says that, aren't they really saying, "I'm not having my selfish desires met."?

Maybe if we focused on the wonderful gifts God has given us:  the breath of life, THIS day, people we care about, a roof over our head, food, clothes - what we have right now - we would be grateful to our Creator and would want to do something for HIM, instead of for ourselves.  Then I suspect we wouldn't be bored or in a bad mood at all.

The Truth About National Disasters

The purpose of my blog is to share truth with others and sometimes the consequences of not acknowledging the truth.  Sometimes that doesn't agree with some people.  But that doesn't change the truth of something.

Remember that comedian that used the phrase, "Wake up, America!"?  Well, wake up, America!  We need to wake up to the fact that God's hand of blessing is being removed from our nation.  Or maybe it is already gone.  Weather catastrophes seem to be increasing at an alarming rate and other catastrophes are multiplying as well.  Murders, financial disasters, and other troubles confirm that our nation is in trouble.

Many people are unable to look past the physical to the spiritual.  That's too bad.  We can't see the wind, but we know it exists because we see the results of its power, even if only a gentle breeze.  We may not be able to see the spiritual realm, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

God is God and we are not.  He will not let His name be defamed or ignored.  Unfortunately, that's what many of our leaders and citizens are trying to do.  They may say they believe in God, but their actions deny that.  If we, as a nation, choose to ignore Him and remove His influence from our lives, He will allow it.  And then we will suffer the consequences of that action.

The most important thing we can do for our nation is PRAY!  We must before it's too late.  Join me.

The Truth About National Treason

Taken from a church  bulletin in Oklahoma...

A Nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious.
But it cannot survive treason from within.
An enemy at the gates is less formidable,
For he is known and he carries his banners openly.

But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely,
His sly whispers rustling through all the alleys,
And is heard in the very halls of government itself.

For the traitor appears no traitor;
He speaks in the accents familiar to his victims,
And he wears their face and their garments,
And he appeals to the baseness that lies
Deep in the hearts of all men.

He rots the soul of a nation;
He works secretly and unknown in the night
To undermine the pillars of a city;
He infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist.
A murderer is less to fear.

"O Lord, forgive us for being so sensitive about the things that do not matter - and so insensitive to the things that do!"  Amen.
